Professional Development for Teachers

On Monday, October 9th we had a professional development day for JBMA staff.  Ms. Katherine Houston, a Gallup certified strength coach led the session and helped each one of us find our inner strengths.  She further guided us as to how we can most efficiently utilize these strengths in the classroom.

At the end of the session, we all participated in a team contest.
Verdict? Upper Elementary and Middle school teachers’ team won the contest.

Timeline Of Life!

This week we dove deeper into the timeline of life, placing fossils where they belong on the timeline itself.   Next, students used a chart from Lost Worlds in Alabama Rocks, a college level text book., to generally date the rocks.  Everyone loved touching ancient sea life, carboniferous fern trees, the stone nautilus, a dinosaur bone, and more.  Ask your kids about the mammalian coprolite; it was a class favorite.

European Artifacts

These artifacts included a Bible, navigation tools, plants and fruits.  Here are some pictures of from our lesson:

Shell Friends!

Last week on a rainy morning, the Tremblay-Cox sisters found a turtle on their drive way.  They decided to learn and research more about this new found friend and brought it to the class to share with us.  They've named their new pal "Red Ruby"!
